When I remember when I was a kid just at the later stages of school, my dad and I used to get our bait from Summit Tackle. A bloody good tackle shop at the time run by Pete the Dog and Dave Aldridge. We used to use there Nut Mix with a bit of the Nutty Slack Flavouring with some sweetner, which we done really well on compared to the other baiting campaigns happening on the lake we was fishing. To be honest we got pissed off with rolling bait ourselves , we wanted to go fishing but no bait to use unless we rolled it, that sort of thing. So we heard of this bloke who had his own bait company and was doing really well on places like Harefield, Cotton Farm etc. The bait company was called Sensible Baits and the bait guru behind it was the late Alan Smith, such a nice bloke; a true Gent and would give anyone the time and day. He used to offer a rolling service as well which was a really good bonus at the time, great no more rolling bait. We just wasn’t geared up for to be honest. Alan Smith was the only person I know to put Sell-By-Dates on his base mixes, this was how good and honest this fella was. We used to use the spice mix which we done really well on. He used to be quite a downed to earth sort of bloke, which you could ring up anytime for a bit of a chat or advice and he would help you out; point you in the right direction that sort of thing. Sadly he died. Such a great lose. Ever since I struggled to find another bait we were happy on . I tried several different bait companies where I live and just not found anything has good quality, let alone confidence in the bait. Shameful in some incidences. So with over 25 years carp experience it was about time I produced a bait of my own. So I wanted to make a base mix that was high in nutritional value as well as a high in amino profile, you can use it all year round and something to have confidence in really was the main reason. So I’ve came up with a mix that I believe you can literally take anywhere and catch. Welcome to the “OMG Mix” . All the ingredients have been hand picked to play there vital part at different leakage and break down points to offer maximum attraction. We use a fine crustacean meal as well as kelp for the added vitamins and minerals that carp require. This bait has a high amino profile and were other baits blow this bait will carry on catching time after time. The carp will recognise this bait as there stable diet from the amount of goodness they get from it. During testing we found even the water snails liking it as well as the carp, after being out for a period of time, we would reel in and find litle groove in the bait which is a gtood sign because it turns your bait into a natural bait. The oil we use is a proven mixture of fish, vegetable and orange oil it also has enough sweetner to take away any bitter taste and added betaine to round the bait off nicely.
